Vote for me!
September 5th, 2008 adminI’ve entered a photo contest from Oregon where a good friend lives and I’d like it if you can have a look and give me some votes on your favorite images of mine. There’s 7 days left for voting.

photoattorney.com just posted about a possible threat to copyright protected images being misused by Microsoft to promote their contest Iconic Britain. According to the website pro-imaging.org, Nikon was the main sponsor and has withdrawn due to negative feedback from photographers.
I did some searches last night and found over 30 placements of my images on their pages. Here is one of many screen shots I took before they closed the site today. I shot the 2 building images.
Occasionally I like to go fishing online by doing a Google search of my business name. I recently hooked this complimentary page.

Well I was one of those “crazy people” in line on July 11 to buy a shiny new 16GB iPhone. My Sprint monthly billing cycle was ending on the 12th, so I had an excuse! A friend of mine who was about #40-45 in line saved me a spot at about 5AM. I showed up around 5:40. I would have been earlier, but I realized 1/2 way there that I forgot my wallet. I won’t bore you with details of activation woes that plagued the Mac faithful that day, but I left at 11AM without it being activated. I got it going that afternoon and today I got the MobileMe software update alert. Now I’m synced up with my Mac Pro and all is good. This afternoon I visited a potential client and gave an impromptu showing with some of my photos on the nice 3.5″ widescreen. It’s a great marketing tool, even if it’s not the best reproduction. This product is so much more than just a cell phone.

Before I shoot the final images I prefer to scout the location for several reasons. #1 is to establish the best possible angles or views for the final images. By shooting a large quantity of “test” photos the client and I can narrow them down to the ultimate choices. This visual reference gets us on the same page so to speak. Sometimes if the schedule allows I’ll shoot more than one scout session as our ideas meld. #2 is to plan the best times to execute those final selected views.
On a couple of recent projects, both of my clients asked if they could use the scout shots, stating they looked great. I chuckled and quoted the BTO song, “You ain’t seen nothing yet“. While I have seen other photographer’s final images on architects websites that are less involved than the scouts I deliver, I can appreciate my client’s interest in these shots.
Here’s an example of select scouting shots and the final views from this recent shoot:

This New York Times article Picture, Picture on the Wall … describes the process of having your home photographed as a memento just as you would have portraits taken of your family members.
I’m available for this type of project and I also shoot great people portraits too.
Please contact me to discuss the details for your session.
