Wow, can we just use your scouting images?

Before I shoot the final images I prefer to scout the location for several reasons. #1 is to establish the best possible angles or views for the final images. By shooting a large quantity of “test” photos the client and I can narrow them down to the ultimate choices. This visual reference gets us on the same page so to speak. Sometimes if the schedule allows I’ll shoot more than one scout session as our ideas meld. #2 is to plan the best times to execute those final selected views.

On a couple of recent projects, both of my clients asked if they could use the scout shots, stating they looked great. I chuckled and quoted the BTO song, “You ain’t seen nothing yet“. While I have seen other photographer’s final images on architects websites that are less involved than the scouts I deliver, I can appreciate my client’s interest in these shots.
