1st Saturday - Learn how to import, organize, and manage your LR Catalog/Library
We’ll start with the demystifying the critical Library Module, using proper importing methods, and discussing how and where to store your files for easy cataloging.
Setting up the Preferences and Catalog Settings
Create a central image bank and discuss the options of a single vs. multiple Catalogs.
Create Import Presets that automatically rename your files, add Metadata/Develop Settings, and places your images into the proper Destination every time you import files.
Library Module: Catalog/Folders/Collections/Publishing Services (Instagram, etc.)
Folder Date Structures, adding and using logical Keywords, Smart Collections
Flags, Labels (colors), and Ratings (1-5 stars)
Sorting files based on Text, Attribute, and Metadata
Panel Solo Mode and Customize Panels to speed workflow
View Modes: Grid, Loupe, Compare, Survey
2nd Saturday - Learn how to maximize your LR processing, and export with efficiency
After the foundation of the Library Module has been established we’ll move into the Develop Module to enhance and maximize the image quality of your raw files.
Histogram: Understanding how to read and utilize it
Crop Overlay, Healing, Red Eye Correction, Masking
Basic Panel:
Profile: Selecting from various Profiles on an image by image basis
White Balance: (WB) and the importance of display color calibration
Tone Sliders: Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks
Presence Sliders: Texture, Clarity, Dehaze, Vibrance, Saturation
Tone Curve Panel: Tone vs. Color Curves
HSL Panel: Hue, Saturation, Luminance, or grey tones for B&W, Targeted Adjustment Tool
Color Grading Panel: Explore various color adjustments of Midtones, Shadows and Highlights
Detail Panel: Obtaining maximum detail with the least amount of noise
Lens Corrections Panel: Chromatic Aberration, Profile Corrections, and Defringe
Transform Panel: Explore various Upright transforms for geometric corrections
Effects Panel: Post-Crop Vignetting and Grain
Calibration Panel: Explore various RGB Primary Hue and Saturation adjustments for color enhancement
Photo Merge: HDR, Panorama, HDR Panorama
Edit In: Open images in Photoshop, and return them back into Lightroom when done
Export Dialog Box: Export presets for various end uses to increase workflow after your images are processed in the Develop Module.
Prerequisite
Basic Computer skills and either laptop or portable desktop computer with LR Classic installed. You can download a 7-day trial here from Adobe. After that, it's just $10/month.
Payment Policy
Payment is due in full 3 or more weeks prior to scheduled 1st Saturday.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 2 weeks prior will be refunded, minus a 20% admin fee. No refunds are available after that date, however, you can use that money as a deposit for 1 on 1 personal instruction with me at a later date.
